Social networks around the world 2010

Here are the results of a new social media study conducted in 14 countries worldwide by Insite Consulting. Some interesting findings are:

  1. Users log in 2 times per day on average. Personal websites are visited more often compared with the professional.
  2. Sending personal messages is the most popular online activity. Watching pics second, checking status 3rd activity.
  3. Users of social network sites seem to be saturated (75%). They have no intention to stop their membership or have no intention to expand (43%).
  4. Everyone removes friends sometimes although this is less common in professional networks.
  5. 1 out of 2 respondents uses Facebook, 17% uses Twitter.
  6. Asian people are more open.
  7. 1 out of 2 users cannot access social websites at work because it is blocked by their employers.
  8. LinkedIn awareness is 22%.
  9. 28% of the internet population is not active on a social network but 31% has the intention to become a member.
  10. 12% of internet population is ex-member of Facebook.
  11. Connected people have about 195 friends.
