LinkedIn launched another new product last week: LinkedIn Today. LinkedIn Today delivers the day’s top news, tailored to you based on what your connections and industry peers are reading and sharing. According to Liz Reaves Walker from LinkedIn, “Staying on top of industry news is something we think matters for any professional whose success depends on being well informed. With all the news websites, blogs, tweets and newsletters out there, staying in-the-know can be time consuming and it’s increasingly hard to figure out what matters most when reading news across multiple sources.” LinkedIn promises to deliver this now.

This new product has received a lot of attention in the press, as it’s potentially a great source of ‘social news’. And the platform that delivers the best Social News will become very important in the (near) future. Its significance is also highlighted by the fact that LinkedIn is launching it as part of their iPhone app as well. A lot of professionals read news on the go, so they wanted to have an easy way for users to get the top news of the day, wherever they are.
